VITRIOL. Research intelligence for people who research seriously.
Search several open databases at once, save and organize your bibliography, run systematic reviews, and visualize the research landscape in interactive maps — all with full traceability. No scraping, no bypassing paywalls.
Federated search
OpenAlex, Crossref, PubMed, arXiv, Europe PMC, Semantic Scholar, CORE, DOAJ, DataCite and the local catalogue in a single query, with AND/OR/NOT operators, quotes and parentheses. Proprietary databases (Scopus, Web of Science, IEEE…) with your own API key.
Normalization and deduplication
Results merged by DOI, PMID, arXiv ID and title fingerprint, with origin traceable per source.
Semantic search
Ask in natural language, in Portuguese or English: per-publication embeddings, “similar by content” and a hybrid literal + semantic catalogue.
Individual history
Each user reviews, repeats, filters, deletes and exports their history as CSV or JSON.
Library and bibliography
Collections, notes, tags, reading statuses, citations in 6 styles and BibTeX/RIS/EndNote/CSV/JSON export.
Literature review
Complete PRISMA 2020 flow diagram (databases, registers and other methods), inclusion/exclusion criteria, literature matrix and gap detection.
Optional assistant AI
Summaries, boolean queries, method extraction and writing support, never inventing references. Works with OpenAI, Anthropic or a local Ollama.
Research mapping
Bibliometric networks, seed-based literature maps (OpenAlex + Semantic Scholar) and concept maps, with VOSviewer/GraphML export.
Researcher's scientific output
Profile with ORCID, Scopus, Web of Science, Ciência ID and Google Scholar; automatic import of your output, SJR quartiles and ABS/AJG journal ratings, h-index and a bibliometric dashboard.
